Mickey Zetts
Book, music, & lyrics
Mickey Zetts is an award winning songwriter who has been perplexing
theatrical audiences since age 14. His first musical play was produced
at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, and was the highest
attended summer event in the University Center’s history. The
school completely funded and produced the project without ever
realizing that he didn’t actually attend classes.
Mickey Zetts' latest show, INSECURITY! The Recession-Proof Musical, produced in the Midtown International Theatre Festival, won him an MITF award for Best Music and Lyrics. Other writing projects
have included original music and lyrics for the Oberon Theatre Ensemble’s productions of “MacBeth” (2008) and “The Merry Wives Of
Windsor” (2007), the latter being Oberon’s most attended
production to date.
Mickey first produced APATHY, The Gen X
Musical at the Florida Playwright’s Theatre in Hollywood, Florida in
1995, which developed a cult following and went
on to be the longest running show in that theatre’s history. It also elicited Jack Zinc, theatre critic for the Miami Herald, to
label Mickey as a “harrowing, rabid nihilist!” Of course, Mickey took that
as a compliment.
Best known for it’s minor cult classic hit, the "Modern Irish Drinking Song," t
he show was revived in 2005 at MITF and cited as
“Outstanding New Musical-Summer 2005” by Talkin’ Broadway. A concert version for the 2006
Spotlight On Festival earned Mickey the Spotlight On award for Best
Original Song, “Mister Bitter’s Blues."
When not writing for the theatre, Mickey performs
with his band the Icky House Club in venues across New York City: www.ickyhouseclub.com.
The Show Goes On Productions
Emileena Pedigo, Executive Producer
The Show Goes On Productions was started as an ensemble of producers interested in the artistic creation of commercial theatre.
Amidst
all the actor-run companies today, it emerges
as a company committed to the production side of quality
story-telling; dedicated to producing new works that relate to audiences through heart and soul. Only through passionate and unconventional story telling can we touch a jaded audience that is losing interest in the status quo. The Show Goes On Productions seeks to reinvigorate commercial theatre by slapping a twist on tradition and exposing matters that are
underrepresented today.
Emileena is managing producer of the Midtown International Theatre
Festival. There she has worked with John Chatterton for over five
years to advance the festival into its 11th season this year. She co-produced
Oberon Theatre Ensemble's 9th and 10th seasons on Theatre Row – the
company’s most successful seasons to date. For 6 Figures Theatre
Company, Emileena co-produced their 14th and 15th seasons at the West
End Theatre. She has production stage managed extensively Off-Broadway, opera, national tours, and regionally at length for such companies as TheatreWorks Hartford, The Lamb's Theater, Mirror Rep (NYC); Bailiwick Rep, Shattered Globe (Chicago), TheatreWorks (Palo Alto, CA), and Teatro Vision (San Jose, CA). She received a B.A. in theatre from Purdue University and completed the Foothill Theatre Conservatory in California, both with honors.
